Freebie Site How-To's and Reviews

Ipodsweepstakes.com

The first freebie site I ever attempted was ipodsweepstakes.com.  This site has hundreds of offers for you to complete to earn what they call Pod Points.  1000 Pod Points earns you a new 2nd Generation iPod Shuffle, 2000 points gets you a 2GB iPod Nano, and 3000 points equals a 30GB iPod Video.  They actually start you off with 200 bonus points for joining, so you only need 800 more to get the Shuffle.  They also run a daily drawing for a Shuffle as well.  Each offer you click gets you one entry into the daily drawing.

Point value for the offers vary according to the difficulty of the offer (time, cost, etc.).  You will see point values ranging from 5 or 6 points for simply clicking a link and inputting your ZIP code or e-mail address, up to over 100 points for some free trial offers.  I have personally received 2 of the Shuffles without ever entering a credit card number or doing a free trial that needed to be cancelled.

Now for a few hints to make this experience quick, easy and enjoyable.  First of all, create a new e-mail address to use to sign up for this.  The offers you complete will generate a ton of spam that you really don't want clogging up your regular e-mail address.  Gmail or Yahoo work great for this.  Some offers also require a phone number.  Privatephone is great for this.  It allows you to create a new phone number and set up voice mail to handle those unwanted telemarketing calls.

Clear your cookies from your browser often, sometimes after each offer you complete.  This will help ensure you receive credit for each offer you do.  You will also get daily e-mail offers from ipodsweepstakes.  Even if you have completed the offer on your personal page, complete it again through the e-mail link, you will very often get credit for it from both sources.

This is a really easy site to do, and is definitely not a scam.  As I said, I have received two Shuffles from them and am currently more than halfway to my third, although I think I will hold out for a Nano this time around.  Good luck earning your iPod, and if you have any questions, leave a comment and I will be glad to help you out.

Welcome
You may be familiar with some of these websites that are popping up promising gift cards, iPod's, cell phones or game consoles for free with the completion of a few sponsor offers and maybe a referral or two.  But you may question whether these sites are "legit" or not.  What I plan to do here is not only review some of these sites to let you know how trustworthy they are, but also give you a little insight on how to get your loot as quickly as possible.  Look for one or two sites to be added each week.  Be assured that each site I cover will be a site that I have personal experience with.  I look forward to the coming weeks and months letting you know what to expect and helping you get your share of the freebies that are out there.
